About Mola
Located at 6018 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, Mola operates as a japanese serving Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Pittsburgh, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Pennsylvania run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 amβ9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Mola at (412) 365-6688; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is themolafish.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 822 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded japanese & sushi in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Pittsburgh peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Mola is SUCH good quality sushi. Even for vegans! They have VEGAN salmon! It's even gluten-free! What a miracle. I do wish they would add the option of vegan *smoked* salmon ππΌ but the fresh vegan salmon is interesting and this is the only place in Pittsburgh I've ever heard of having it. The cucumber avocado roll is always so good and honestly costs less than I've seen at some other places. Their rice is so good and the veggies quality is always on point. And they provide gluten-free tamari if requested, which is a nice bonus

We drove an hour and a half to try Mola, and it exceeded every expectation. Not a single disappointment from start to finish. If youβre looking for authentic, high-quality sushi, this is absolutely worth the drive. Weβll definitely be making this a monthly trip. The service was 10/10. Our waitress was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. She took the time to explain different cuts of fish, answer all of our questions, and recommend dishes based on what we liked. That level of service made the experience even better. The sushi was some of the best weβve ever had. The King Salmon nigiri was unreal and easily one of the best bites of food Iβve had. The Kamatoro was rich and buttery, and the Toro with black truffle roll was phenomenal. Every piece of nigiri was incredibly fresh and melted in your mouth. The bao buns were amazing too, especially the sirloin, and we couldnβt leave without trying the mochi. The espresso flavor was our favorite, but every one we tried was delicious. You can tell Mola truly cares about quality, from the fish to the service to the overall experience. Itβs rare to leave a restaurant already planning your next visit, but

My favorite sushi restaurant in Pittsburgh. I'm a big proponent of value and this is the place - excellent quality and reasonable prices. I love the chirashi so much I have to get it every time I go. It's the kind of thing you have to close your eyes and savor each bite. The spicy edamame is a great starter. The bao are solid. Also love the dessert options. Reservations recommended, can get crowded.

Absolutely love Mola! The quality of the fish is outstanding β always incredibly fresh, tender, and full of flavor. You can really tell they use high-quality ingredients. I often order takeout, and itβs consistently delicious, but Iβve also enjoyed dining in. The atmosphere is great, and the place is usually busy β which tells you everything you need to know about how good the food is. Everything Iβve tried has been fresh, tasty, and beautifully prepared. Definitely one of my go-to sushi spots. Highly recommend if youβre looking for quality sushi that never disappoints! π£
